After his split from The Pogues in 1991m, Shane MacGowan came back stronger than ever in 1995 with his new band The Popes and their first album The Snake. During the tour to support the alum they stopped off at the Montreux Jazz festival for what is, so far, his only performance there.
The concert combines tracks from the Snake album, such as Nancy Whiskey and Bring Down the Lamp, with The Pogues classics such as If I Should Fall from Grace With God, A Pair of Brown Eyes and The Irish Rover. When Shane and The Pope are in Town, every night is part night.
