Paddy Reilly Greatest Hits Live CD

Paddy Reilly is without doubt Ireland's most famous solo balladeer. The warmth and good humour radiating from his live shows along with his dedication to his craft, have made him a legend in his own time.

This collection of his best known songs has his classics 'The Town I Loved So Well' and 'The Fields Of Athenry' along with many more of his favourites. "The Town I Loved So Well" written by Phil Coulter after a visit to his native Derry has become synonymous with Paddy Reilly as have "The Fields". Paddy Reilly's gift is to take songs, some old and some new, and instil them with his own unique presence. They are then in turn, brought to a much wider audience than before.

This collection covers all aspects of his career. From the folk boom comes Sullivans' John" written by 'Pecker" Dunne; and Woody Guthrie's tragic Deportees". 'The Old Triangle" by Dublins notorious son, Brendan Behan, gets a look-in, as do 'The Galway Races". 'Sam Hall" is a song from his first album that has become another Reilly trademark and "Rose of Allandale" also new at the time, but has since become a well known favourite. Each song Paddy imbues with a freshness, as though he is singing it for the very first time.

Recorded live in his hometown of Dublin, here is some of the Reilly magic in action. Paddy Reilly singing his greatest hits in front of a captive audience. Some of the best Irish songs of recent years coupled with established folk favourites, delivered with Paddy Reilly's ease and warmth: It all adds up to a fabulous collection of songs Paddy Reilly has truly made his own. Enjoy.
